Safety deck dismantle and collection

The trades above are done. We take the deck back out in a single planned visit, inspect every component, and leave a clean floor. Graceland dismantles Trad Deck and G-Deck nationwide from St Neots.

The trades above are done. One visit. Nothing left behind.

The easiest way to spoil a good install is to come back for the dismantle without a plan. A deck that went in cleanly over one visit and then takes three visits to come out wastes your programme, your compound space and your goodwill. Dismantle is not an afterthought. It is planned at the survey, coordinated with the principal contractor, executed in a single visit, and documented on the way out.

That is how every Graceland dismantle works, whether the platform has been in place for two days on a four-bed detached or six weeks on a care-home block.

When the dismantle actually happens

The trigger is simple: the trades above the deck are finished. Roof on, M&E first fix in, plasterers off the programme, ceilings closing up. When your site manager gives us the word, the dismantle slot on the programme becomes a real date and our crew arrives to take the platform back out.

On multi-plot housebuilding sites, dismantles are sequenced plot by plot so you are not waiting for us to finish one thing before we start the next. On apartment frames, dismantles happen floor by floor as the ceilings close below — so there is never more stored-out decking sitting on your compound than one floor's worth of panels. On care-home and commercial blocks, the dismantle is usually a single planned visit coordinated with the principal contractor.

What happens on a dismantle visit

  1. Site agent walk-through. Before anything comes off, our crew lead walks the platform with your site agent. Any waste, stored material or loose components on the deck surface need to be cleared first — per the TRAD user guide, the deck surface is to be clean before dismantle is requested.
  2. Methodical strike, from the top down. Panels come off in reverse of the install sequence. Heads and pins are removed to the component plan, legs are lifted clear, base units are collected.
  3. Component inspection on the way out. Every component is visually inspected for defects or damage as it is lifted. Any component found to be defective or damaged is quarantined on site for removal and replacement, per the TRAD user guide's explicit rule.
  4. Truck loaded, compound cleared. Panels, legs and base units go back on the truck in the same stacking order they arrived. The area under the deck is left clean and handed back to your follow-on trades in a single conversation.
  5. Final sign-off. Your site agent and our crew lead confirm the dismantle complete, the component inspection record stays on the Graceland file, and your Handover Certificate is formally closed out.

Quarantine, not improvisation

The TRAD user guide is explicit that any component found to be defective or damaged on dismantle must be quarantined on site for removal at the earliest convenience. We follow that rule exactly. A panel with a hairline stress fracture does not go back on the truck to be reused on the next job. It is pulled out of service, logged, and replaced. That is the whole reason your H&S team can trust a platform we have installed for the second, third or twentieth time: the components that come back to the yard are components we would be happy to install on your block next week.

05Compliance

Compliance, for your CDM file

Dismantle is a Work at Height operation in its own right, governed by the same Work at Height Regulations 2005 as the install. Every operative on a dismantle is CSCS-certified and FASET-trained. The method statement covers the strike sequence, the component inspection, the quarantine procedure and the safe loading of the truck. The final sign-off closes the jointly countersigned Handover Certificate that has been on your site file since install day.

Who is running your dismantle

On most dismantles it is one of our senior installers — usually the same installer who led the original install, which is the whole point. The person taking your platform back out is the person who built it. On care-home and commercial blocks Paul Darrington or Ewan Craig are usually out for the final walk-through before the file is closed.

Nationwide from St Neots. Core regions: Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, East Anglia and the Midlands.
